About Ctaqua

What is Ctaqua?
The Andalusian Aquaculture Technology Centre, Ctaqua, is a private, non-profit foundation.

Ctaqua focuses on fostering competitive innovation between companies, addressing the business needs of the aquaculture sector, as well as the development of research applied to the different production processes.

Ctaqua is located in El Puerto de Santa María in the province of Cadiz, Andalusia. Thanks to its strategic location, the foundation can develop its activities on a regional, national and international level.

CTAQUA TEAM:

MANAGEMENT:
JUAN MANUEL GARCÍA DE LOMAS MIER
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Extremadura.
Expert in production planning and control, environmental management and development of marine aquaculture activities and the environment.
Professor and coordinator of the Master in Fishing and Aquaculture (Commercialisation Module) of the University of Cadiz.

He worked at CUPIMAR developing different functions in the hatchery and grow-out facilities. In recent years, he was coordinator for the different farm locations of the company in the Bay of Cádiz.

Professor of intermediate and higher level educational programmes in the speciality of Marine Cultures at I.E.S. Sancti – Petri, in San Fernando (Cadiz).

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR:
MARÍA DEL MAR BARRIOS GALÁN
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Sciences from the University of Cadiz. She developed research work in the university’s genetics laboratory until 2006. Subsequently, she received further training during the two years she worked at the General Secretariat of Marine Affairs, as part of the General Secretary’s support unit.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR:
ROCÍO ROBLES AROZARENA
Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Seville. She has been researcher for five years in the Laboratory of Aquaculture and Artemia Reference Center of the University of Ghent, Belgium, and five years in the University of Cadiz Biology Department. She was Technical Director of Caditec Testing S.L. (company dedicated to applied research in aquaculture) for six years.

Her work has focused on applied research in aquaculture (nursery and growing phases, microbiology and nutrition).

Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Seville.
Specialised in Marine Biology at the University of San Cristobal de la Laguna.
Official Master’s in Aquaculture and Fishing: Marine Resources and Sustainability (ACUIPESCA)

MARÍA AVIVAR VALDERAS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management
Bachelor’s degree in Market Research and Techniques
Gained experience in sales analysis and market studies in a multinational company.

MARÍA DEL MAR AGRASO MARTÍNEZ
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Sciences from the University of Cadiz.
International Master’s in Fishing and Aquaculture (University of Cadiz).
Over six years of experience in the private and public aquaculture sectors.

RAFAEL NÚNEZ ÁLVAREZ

Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and Bachelor in Science and Technology of Food Products from the University of Granada.Wet lab responsible of the Caditec Testing S.L. laboratory.

Experienced in education and training. Teacher in courses on environmental education and the food industry safety.
