Maintaining the culture medium in the best
possible condition is one of the most important
aspects in aquaculture systems. Thus, the
development of preventive measures that
companies in the sector can apply may positively
contribute to a systematic improvement in
productivity, affecting not only the quantity
and quality of the product, but also the
company's economic efficiency.
Due to the impact of parasites in recent
years, companies have mobilised themselves
in search of solutions adapted to their
needs, including advances in early detection,
samplings and the development of hygiene
and cleaning protocols.
As a result, apart from compiling the decalogue
for good practices to minimise the incidence
and effects of the most common parasites
related to land-based aquaculture systems,
it is necessary to continue working on influencing
the different parameters that affect the
proliferation of parasitic diseases. This
is why ASEMA presented a new proposal including
participation from Ctaqua as scientific-technical
advisor with support from the ICMAN-CSIC.
